I’m a leftist Christian. Sarcastically, I refer to myself as a Democratic Socialist American Christian, or DSAC: Because being a left-wing Christian sucks balls. For most of my life, the Christians I’ve been surrounded by have been conservative or conservative-leaning. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone; most major religions have conservative biases. However, what was fairly notable to me is how these folks spoke about people who held left-wing political views. The opinions of leftist ideology ranged from being compared to a lifelong struggle to booking my trip straight to hell (without passing go). Or, my favorite, “if you go left far enough you find yourself at Nazism.” Needless to say, it’s not exactly surprising that a subsection of white Christians might not exactly understand why a black man might prefer the government to have some amount of control over the economy.

It appears that I have forgotten myself and the lessons that I’ve learned about myself. If you’re reading this, then you can be once again re-assured that I am back. Am I back like Longhhorn football? Soretomo (I know Japanese conjunctives now… it means “or”), am I back like overt racism? The staying power of my ability to complete literary works is still under evalutation but I do have a very explicit goal as to how much to write while I remain 33 years old. I hope to use this new, private platform (can’t call it self-hosted) to achieve that endeavor. And, yes, I will be dropping sports takes to hit my objective. No more exclusively negative writing to prose my way out of a depressive bout! Mmm… at some point maybe I’ll figure out a way to let y’all subscribe to my site but spinning up the initial, moderately secure subdomain was enough of a post-work task. I’m simply trying to write more. Because of this, some of my works may not be as well-researched or well-organized. I may write from memory. This is one such work. If I have multiple biases, I will try to specify one bias at the beginning of the essay and another at the end of the essay.

Bias One: I’m Pro Labor

Taking a minor issue (or an extreme scenario), getting someone to agree with your position, and then using that agreement against them in a major issue is a classic tactic to try and win arguments or debates. I tend to believe sports are the proving grounds for this type of tactic when it comes to issues of labor. It’s easy for ownership to draw a distinction between the one-, two-, and three-comma clubs for the purposes of gaining fan sympathy. However once that happens, capital has never refrained from utilizing these concessions on issues where they have far less moral standing.
